Q: How do I choose a bicycle?

Before buying a bike, ask yourself what kind of riding you want to do. Casual city-rides, long-distance touring, or rough-n-tumble trail riding? This will determine the type of bike you are looking for. Also ask yourself how often you intend to ride. If you only plan to ride once in a while, there's no reason to pour a lot of money into a bicycle. However, if you are already an occasional rider who is looking to start riding more, then investing in a good quality bicycle can go a long way to increasing your enjoyment as well as your saddle-time!

Make sure that you buy a bicycle that is the correct size for you. If you have children, it is important to adjust their bike often and replace it as necessary with a bigger frame and wheel diameter that keeps up with your child's growth. Riding on too-small of bicycle can lead to muscle injury and wear your joints out prematurely. Sit astride too-large of frame and you will have trouble making it move, plus the obvious risk of groin injury.
